Streaming Media on Your HD TV Easily

I want to connect a laptop to a Sony Viera television to watch films via the internet. It must have HDMI, VGA, and USB connections plus card reader etc.
Hi John
Thanks for writing in.
If you want to connect to your T.V. to play movies from the Internet, I.E. Netflix or other services, there are less expensive ways to do it.
Instead of a laptop computer, could I interest you in a WD TV Live streaming media player? This unit is a small box that attaches to your HD TV via an HDMI cable. It has an intuitive (and good looking) user interface that you control via a remote. It has an ethernet hook up, or you can connect via your WiFi. It'll play streaming movies via various services or media from any computer on your network, including music and pictures. As well, it will stream video from services like Netflix, Hulu, youtube, facebook, and others.
As well, it's less than $100 (American), 5 or 6 times less expensive than your average laptop computer.
Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player................. $99.95 American

I love this device - I actually just bought it so we could watch Netflix on our Toshiba LCD - it works like a charm. You don't have to get off the couch to browse the movies on this service, everything works with the comprehensive remote control.
I hope I didn't misread your intent for this purpose. If you would still like me to show you a laptop, please let me know.
Best regards,
Mike
